SALÓN GALLOS

MAIN VENUE

With six years of sustained activity, Salón Gallos has gradually established itself as a significant space for Yucatán’s artistic and cultural communities. Over this period, it has hosted projects and gatherings that have expanded the conversation around creative practices in the region, fostering connections, collaboration, and new perspectives. This ongoing evolution has positioned the space as a fertile environment for initiatives such as WAY, which finds in Salón Gallos an open platform for exchange and artistic exploration.

Salón Gallos will serve as WAY’s HOME BASE, hosting talks, screenings, exhibitions, and GRAN FINALE; the closing party.

NEPANTLA

EXHIBITION AND SITE-SPECIFIC WALK THROUGH SAN JUAN HENEQUEN HACIENDA

NEPANTLA, a Nahuatl word meaning “to be in between,” describes the experience of inhabiting the intersection of cultures, languages, and identities, and of locating creativity and resilience within those spaces. It embraces the generative friction inherent to transition.

Within this framework, the jungle becomes a passage for NEPANTLA, where each work occupies a liminal territory between the wild and the cultivated, the past and the present, the body and the spirit.

For WAY, Angela Damman and ALRATITO Studio will present the second iteration of NEPANTLA at Hacienda San Juan, Telchac Pueblo.

PLANTEL MATILDE

AT THE LINE WHERE THE SKY MEETS EARTH, OBJECTS CEASE TO EXIST

Notes on contemporary sculptural practices in Yucatán

Plantel Matilde is an initiative founded by sculptor Javier Marín, conceived as a space for creation and critical reflection around artistic practices. It has operated as a studio, residency, and meeting point for projects that explore creative processes in dialogue with diverse craft traditions. Its aim is to provide an environment in which experimentation and exchange unfold organically, building a bridge between artisanal knowledge and contemporary art.

As part of WAY, an exhibition dedicated to contemporary sculpture in Yucatán will be presented, bringing together local artists and creators connected to the region whose works offer an overview of current sculptural practices and languages. The exhibition seeks to foreground the diversity of approaches and to open new readings on the present moment of sculptural production in the region.

Exhibition curated by José García Torres and César Rendón.
